In the framework of the EMPACT (European Multidisciplinary Platform against Criminal Threats), the German Federal Police shared a handbook containing information on how to identify "visa fraud" with all Schengen Member States (national police, border and asylum authorities, embassies and consulates) as well as Frontex, the European Asylum Agency and Europol. The handbook recommends open source investigation, including using social media to feed into a risk assessment.
