The EU's border agency, Frontex, makes use of aerial surveillance to enable the Libyan Coast Guard to intercept migrant boats, despite the patterns of pushbacks and torture. Frontex's Multipurpose Aerial Surveillance operates under Eurosur and includes Frontex operated aircrafts and drones and is mostly deployed for maritime surveillance over the Mediterranean sea. In addition, the EU donated drones and other aerial surveillance materials to Bosnia and Herzegovina in June 2025. These instances demonstrate expanding aerial surveillance for tracking migrants both inside the EU and outside.
